How much does it cost?
Do I pay weekly or monthly?
Payment is in advance and you will be required to pay for 1 month at a time.
How do I pay?
Initial payment will be taken via credit or debit card. For future payments a standing order is the easiest way to pay. Other options are credit or debit card over the phone, BACs payments or cheque.
Do I have to book?
Booking is advised to ensure that you get the unit size you need but as long as you bring the required documents you can move in without booking. Moving in must take place during our office opening hours.
Can I move in today?
You can move in at any time when our office is open (opening times). You will need to bring with you a suitable proof of identity (a passport); proof of address (a utility bill); and a credit or debit card for payment.
How long can I stay?
There is no time limit.
Can I change the size of my unit?
Yes, subject to availability.
What is the minimum time I can stay?
Can I store anything?
You can store most things with the exception of:
- Living items, such as animals and plants
- Hazardous materials, such as flammable liquids and explosives
- Items that could decompose, such as exposed foodstuffs
- Unauthorised or illegal goods, such as drugs or firearms

What security do you have?
We take security very seriously and have extensive systems in place to protect your belongings, including 24 hour High Definition CCTV monitoring, a sophisticated twin alarm system and a fire & smoke detection system.
Does Stonehouse Self Storage provide locks? Do you keep a key to my storage unit?
For your security you provide your own padlock for your unit. We do not hold a key so only you will have access to your unit. For your convenience we sell a range of padlocks.
What documents do I need to rent a unit?
When renting a unit from Stonehouse Self Storage you will be required to provide proof of identity and a proof of address.
Accepted forms of ID – Passport, Photo Card Driving Licence
Accepted proof of address – Utility bill, Bank Statement, Tenancy document. All documents must be less than 3 months old.
Do I need insurance?
All items must be insured whilst stored with us. We provide free insurance to all our customers up to a contents value of £2,000. If you want to increase the insurance value we can arrange a competitive quotation. Alternatively you can provide your own insurance, in this case proof of insurance must be provided to Stonehouse Self Storage.
What size units do you have?
Our units range from 10sq ft up to 200 sq ft
Do I need to give you notice when I want to move out?
Yes. We require 7 days written notice when you wish to vacate. Upon vacation we will refund any remaining days.
When can I access my storage unit?
Standard access hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday – Friday and 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturdays. Closed bank holidays.
Do you have trolleys I can use?
Yes we have trolleys that are free for you to use.
Is it possible to view the storage rooms before I rent?
Of course. At any point during office hours we will be pleased to show you around and answer any queries.
Monday – Friday 08:30 – 17:30
Saturday – 09:00 – 12:00 (by arrangement)
Do I have to pay a security deposit
No we do not require a security deposit.
Can I reserve a unit?
To make a confirmed reservation a payment of £25 will be taken per unit. The unit will then be reserved until the agreed date. This payment will be offset against your first month’s rent. The payment will be non refundable should the reservation be cancelled.
Do you charge access fees?
Access during our reception opening hours is free of charge. You can come and go as often as you need with no additional cost.
